About Me
I’m Mario Gallina, L.Ac., CMTPT, a proud native of Santa Barbara who’s come full circle. After spending 15 years away from my hometown to pursue my career and studies, I returned three years ago with a mission: to utilize my more than 20 years of experience in treating a wide array of pain and orthopedic conditions to benefit my local community.
My treatment philosophy marries modern techniques like dry needling with traditional treatments such as acupuncture and manual therapy. The end goal is the same now as it’s always been—to help my patients find both immediate relief and long-term wellness, achieving peak physical performance in the process.
Educational Background
My educational background is both extensive and diverse. I hold a Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which I completed in 2008. Before that, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2001.
My commitment to mastering my craft led me to obtain certifications in dry needling from nationally recognized Myopain Seminars in 2017, and in traditional Chinese medicine orthopedics and tui na from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2014.
I even took my studies abroad with concentrated post-graduate work in Beijing and Zhejiang in 2009. Additionally, I served as a Qualified Medical Examiner (QME) for the state of California, a role that underscores my skills and expertise.
Professional Background
Professionally, I’ve had some wonderful opportunities that have broadened my horizons. In 2009, I co-founded the San Francisco Acupuncture Group in the heart of San Francisco’s Financial District. The clinic quickly gained regional recognition for its specialized focus on pain relief and dry needling.
In 2014, I transitioned to become the lead acupuncturist and dry needling expert at a major tech company based in Cupertino, gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
Returning to Santa Barbara
In January 2020, my wife and I decided it was time to return to Santa Barbara to be closer to family and my community. Now, I relish the coastal lifestyle here along with my wife and two children. But what truly fulfills me is continuing to offer world-class treatments to the people and community that I love so much.
